Heavy Rain Predicted Across Jharkhand

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) based in Ranchi has announced a forecast for heavy to very heavy rainfall across various locations in Jharkhand over the coming days. According to the IMD bulletin, areas in the northwestern parts of the state, including Garhwa, Chatra, Palamu, and Latehar, are expected to experience significant rainfall on Saturday. Additionally, heavy rainfall is also anticipated in the southwestern, northeastern, and central regions of the state on the same day.


Tragic Consequences of the Rainfall

The heavy downpour in several parts of Jharkhand has resulted in the deaths of five individuals, with several others injured and one person reported missing, as confirmed by officials on Saturday. They reported that a house collapsed in the Saraikela-Kharsawan district on Friday night, leading to the fatalities of a woman and her seven-year-old son. Eight others sustained injuries in this incident, which occurred in the Dandu village of the Rajnagar block.


Malaya Das, the Block Development Officer of Rajnagar, stated, 'The woman and her son succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment at MGM Hospital in Jamshedpur, and eight others were injured when Santosh Lohar's mud house collapsed.' A police officer noted that the incident took place while some relatives were visiting Santosh's home.


Additional Incidents Linked to Heavy Rain

In another incident reported by the police, a five-year-old child lost their life when a wall of a house collapsed on Saturday morning, injuring three others in the Kharasawan police area of Kol Shimla. Furthermore, an official mentioned that a couple was swept away by a swollen river in Katghara village of Chatra district on Friday. Rahul Dev, the Block Development Officer of Gidhaur, informed that the husband's body has been recovered, while the wife remains missing. Additionally, a rain-related incident in the Khairatola village of the Patthalgadha block resulted in another fatality.
